Welcome to the GMC recruitment website.
Welcome, and thank you for taking an interest in the role of Assistant Director, Outreach.
This is a critical senior role for the General Medical Council, to lead our outreach team, in our Strategic Communications and Engagement Directorate. As the country, and the healthcare systems in all parts of the UK, recover from the pandemic and face the many challenges and opportunities ahead, we want to ensure that we adapt and innovate, to play our part in delivering better healthcare and patient protection through ensuring high standards of medical education, training and practice.
Our recently published Corporate Strategy sets out our ambitions not just to perform our regulatory responsibilities with excellence, but to use our strength and influence to support wider improvement across the health and care system – working with health partners to promote the training and working environments that enable doctors to provide the best quality care; thinking ahead on the country’s health workforce needs in the years ahead and our part in that; and collaborating with other regulators to find new ways of working together for better patient outcomes. As the successful appointee to this role, it will be your task to lead the GMC’s Outreach team in working with stakeholder across England to support the delivery of our corporate objectives and statutory duties.
I have been with the GMC since 2018, and I can say from experience that it is a great organisation to be part of. You will join an organisation with a compelling public mission, a deserved reputation for excellence in its work, and a strong position at the heart of the wider health and care system. You will find a strong collaborative culture and a supportive and welcoming group of colleagues. We offer excellent benefits including occupational pension scheme, and flexible working options.
We provide an inclusive working environment where everyone is valued, and welcome new perspective and ideas that you may bring. We have placed equality, diversity and inclusion at the heart of our Corporate Strategy, both as a regulator of an increasingly diverse medical profession and as an organisation. I am very keen for this appointment to be part of our commitment to improve the diversity of our senior leadership, so I would particularly encourage and welcome applications to this role from women, people with disabilities and from an ethnic minority background.
As a part of the GMC, you’ll be able to make a real difference. If you feel that this is the right opportunity for you, I look forward to receiving your application.
